This is the third album by the Solomon Douglas Swingtet. It was recorded at the end of a three-week tour of the eastern states and provinces during which the band played 16 gigs in 20 days. The results of that intense touring experience can be heard in these recordings.
We have not attempted to replicate the original versions of these songs precisely (what would be the point in that?); rather than a blind devotion to historical re-enactment, our intent is a reverent re-embodiment of the spirit of this great repertoire.
The passion and the joy that pervade this music were felt and shared by all the players in the band, and it is now our pleasure to share these feelings with you.
